Michael Y. Chew, O.D.
Dr. Chew studied optometry at the State University of New York, School of Optometry. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Chew is board-certified to treat eye injuries and to prescribe medication for eye diseases. He specializes in hard-to-fit contact lenses of every type, and always enjoys a challenge. He has been practicing in the Bay Area for 17 years.

Garuna Chaisongkram, O.D.
Dr. Chaisongkram, “Dr. Chai”, obtained her doctorate degree in optometry from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Chai is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association.
Dr. Chai was the 2008 recipient of the Tony and Elna Adams Professional Student Support award; she was recognized by UC Berkeley, School of Optometry for her work in Nicaragua’s underserved communities, where she provided voluntary optometric services through VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity). She also specializes in Low Vision and was recognized in 2008 when she received the Corning/David J. Kerko Low Vision award.
Dr. Chai is committed to providing and promoting overall ocular health—from providing annual vision care to treating eye diseases. She fits all contact lens types: soft, gas-permeable, toric, multifocal, and other hard-to-fit lenses. Dr. Chai is also certified to fit custom gas-permeable lenses (CRT), which are normally worn at night to improve vision through reshaping the front of the eye.
When she’s not saving the world, one pair of eyes at a time, Dr. Chai enjoys cooking and hiking. She also takes her dog, Molly, on runs with her as she trains for her upcoming marathon.
Congratulations to Dr. Chai, who is a newly married! We will have to start getting used to calling her by her new name, Dr. Garuna Hartnett!

Denise J. Chew
Denise is a graduate of Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She has been in the optical business for 15 years. She is a people person, and really enjoys working with our patients. She will make sure that patients leave our office with a smile, and that their eyewear always fit well.
Now that her human children are getting older and are more self-sufficient, she can spend time with her four-legged child, Bella - and hopes to have more in the future!!

Maria Mejia aka Tootsie - Optician
Maria's background is an optometrist in the Philippines. She loves ballroom dancing, and sometimes even teaches dancing to others!
You can always count on Maria to bring a little color and style to your choice of eyewear!

Hedrick Mercurio - Optician
Hedrick comes to us by way of Southern California. He can deal with the cold weather, as long as he can have his share of special chicken wings, only available in San Francisco!! He likes to keep busy on his days off playing the guitar, riding his bike, and walking his super cute puppy, Spock!!

Samantha Bautista
Sammie is a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is the sweet voice that you will hear when you call our office, and the person who knows how to handle the flurry at the front desk! She is planning to get acclimated into the field of optometry, so that she can go to optometry school.

Marianne Florendo - Optometric Tech
Marianne is now a first year student at Optometry School in Southern California! We are lucky to have her help us out in the office when she comes home to visit. We hope that she keeps up with her love of music, and perhaps eventually join the "Docs of Rock"!
